# Supported clients

Every AI client with a checked setup for OnlyMCP: how it connects, through OAuth, a token or the local package, the exact commands, and when it was checked.

Any client that speaks MCP can connect to OnlyMCP. The clients below are the ones with checked setup instructions: each entry says how the client connects, which command or configuration to use, and on which date this was last checked against the client’s own documentation. The list is generated from the registry the product itself uses.

There are two routes. The remote route connects the client straight to `https://only-mcp.com/api/mcp`, with a token or through an OAuth sign-in; the code blocks below are for this route. The local route runs the onlymcp package on your machine, and the client talks to it over stdio: it needs Node.js 22 or newer, and the package signs in through `npx onlymcp login` instead of a token, see [import and sync](https://only-mcp.com/docs/import-and-sync).

In the commands, `omk_…` stands for a token. You create one in the dashboard under Connect. Clients that sign in through OAuth need no token at all: they open a browser window and ask you to allow the connection.

## Claude Code

Coding tool. Connects through a token in a header, an OAuth sign-in or the local onlymcp package.

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user onlymcp https://only-mcp.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer omk_…"
```

The local route instead: `npx onlymcp install --client claude-code` registers the local onlymcp package (stdio) in Claude Code. Run `npx onlymcp login` first; this route needs no token.

## Claude

Chat app. Connects through an OAuth sign-in.

Add OnlyMCP as a custom connector with the address `https://only-mcp.com/api/mcp`. The sign-in runs through OAuth, there is no token to copy.

Claude connects through OAuth. Static headers exist only in a limited beta.

## ChatGPT

Chat app. Connects through an OAuth sign-in.

Add OnlyMCP as a custom connector with the address `https://only-mcp.com/api/mcp`. The sign-in runs through OAuth, there is no token to copy.

Custom MCP connectors live in ChatGPT’s developer mode on the web, and need a paid plan.

## Codex

Coding tool. Connects through a token in a header, an OAuth sign-in or the local onlymcp package.

```bash
export ONLYMCP_TOKEN=omk_…
codex mcp add onlymcp --url https://only-mcp.com/api/mcp --bearer-token-env-var ONLYMCP_TOKEN
```

Codex reads ONLYMCP_TOKEN from the environment every time it starts. Put the export line in your shell profile, not just the current terminal session.

The local route instead: `npx onlymcp install --client codex` registers the local onlymcp package (stdio) in Codex. Run `npx onlymcp login` first; this route needs no token.

## Gemini CLI

Coding tool. Connects through a token in a header, an OAuth sign-in or the local onlymcp package.

```bash
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user onlymcp https://only-mcp.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer omk_…"
```

The local route instead: `npx onlymcp install --client gemini-cli` registers the local onlymcp package (stdio) in Gemini CLI. Run `npx onlymcp login` first; this route needs no token.

Checked on 2026-09-25 against [the Gemini CLI documentation](https://github.com/google-gemini/gemini-cli/blob/main/docs/tools/mcp-server.md).

## Gemini

Chat app. Connects through an OAuth sign-in.

Add OnlyMCP as a custom connector with the address `https://only-mcp.com/api/mcp`. The sign-in runs through OAuth, there is no token to copy.

Custom connectors are limited to Gemini Spark and are not available in every country.

## GitHub Copilot (VS Code)

Editor. Connects through a token in a header, an OAuth sign-in or the local onlymcp package.

In `.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "onlymcp": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://only-mcp.com/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer omk_…"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Business and Enterprise tenants must enable the MCP policy first.
